about
Don’t Give Up On Me is the debut single from Living Body, a new project from Leeds-based Chicagoan sound artist and multi-instrumentalist Jeff T. Smith (Juffage), featuring longtime collaborators Katie Harkin (Harkin, Sky Larkin, Sleater-Kinney, Wild Beasts), and Tom Evans (Vessels).
Originally recorded in the late 1990s by Empress, a Leeds band featuring members of Hood and Boyracer, the track was reworked by Living Body in January 2016 and released shortly after via ourselves and Kingfisher Bluez in Canada. The band's debut single, Don’t Give Up On Me is dedicated to hope, optimism, and the European Union.
Expanding on from a solo project, Living Body has enabled Smith to explore a more immediate and direct approach to songwriting, further honing his uniquely inimitable patchwork of pop music with noise/drone forms.

The Chicago wunderkind's debut album is half lo-fi hip-hop pianos and breakneck drumming, half polished pop songs full of orchestral arrangements and whimsical but melancholic melodies. Bandcamp Album of the Day Nov 23, 2020
